Welcome to the Queer Books Database
What this database is
The publishing world continues to make it harder and harder for queer-content narratives, creators, and readers to find each other. The Queer Books Database is a humble solution to a complicated problem: the need for queer creators, readers, and gamers to have a giant resource that connects them without the fear of queerphobic shadowbans. Finally, the creator of this got tired of watching this happen, and decided to finally make a website dedicated to listing the queer books and games out there.
We accept all genres and topics, so long as it is queer.
What makes a book queer?
Queer identity, themes, or existence needs to be a prominent part of the book. This includes but is not limited to: the main or primary supporting character simply being queer, queer themes, exploring queer identities, or the author is queer.
How do we define queer?
Defining "queer" is easier said than done. Loosely, if we think of "not queer" as the mouthful of a word "cishetamatonormativity", which describes the societal phenomenon of being expected to: be the gender you were assigned at birth, having a sex that matches the gender you were assigned at birth, being exclusively romantically and sexually and emotionally attracted to the "opposite gender/sex", the expectation of a monogamous hetero marriage, and the expectation of children within the sole context of a monogamous hetero marriage. This is a lot. Queerness is, by virtue of not being cishetamatonormative, anything that exists outside of that framework.
What about Generative Intelligence Content? ("AI")
Any content that was produced by generative-intelligence algorithms is strictly forbidden from being included in this database. While we cannot promise we will catch everything, our human filters will be doing our damnedest to weed out suspected or known generative-intelligence content. Books (or games) caught breaking this rule will be promptly removed from the database without warning. It is a privilege to be included, not a right.
